Saturday 8th February
Arrive at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur and meet all the other attendees
Sunday 9th
After breakfast, go sight-seeing in KL. Many itineraries are available, but we will escort a group to Chinatown, the Islamic Arts Museum and Central Market. Alternatively, visit the new Palace Museum at the old palace, the Bird Park or Orchid gardens. Lunch whilst out. Return to hotel for dinner.
Monday 10th
(Note, the heritage tour of Kuala Lumpur, which was included on previous itineraries, used to be offered by the city on a complimentary basis, but this is no longer the case)
Fly to Bangkok (suggest TG416, MH782 or MH788) - note TG416 is cheaper booked as MH code share if not award flight.
Transfer to Grand Hyatt for welcome reception, kindly sponsored by the hotel:
- suggest shared transfer in VIP van (500 THB/person based on 4 sharing, depending on luggage 6 may be possible)
Tuesday 11th
Choose 1 of the following tours:
a) Suggested for first-timers to Bangkok
Visit the Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew (Emerald Buddha), Wat Pho (Reclining Buddha), Wat Trimitr (Golden Buddha) and other major sights of the city with your private tour guide - option for boat ride on the river, visit to flower market or The Jim Thompson House.
8 hour tour costs 500 THB/person (based on 4 sharing) plus transport costs (taxi/public transport) plus entrance fees (around 650 THB/person)
b) For Foodies, especially those who have been to Bangkok before
Start with a trip to the local market, before visiting a local Thai woman's house and learn to make 3-4 of your favourite Thai dishes in a private lesson. Enjoy lunch before relaxing in the afternoon on a long-tail boat through the Venice of the East or returning to the hotel to enjoy the spa.
Cooking lesson (inc transport, market tour and lunch) and canal tour costs 2750 THB/person (based on 4).
c) For those who have seen Bangkok and want a day trip outside the city
Leave in the morning for the ancient Thai capital of Ayutthaya, visiting the flower market en route. Spend most of the day wandering around the historical temples and Bang-Pa Summer Palace with your private tour guide.
Estimated price is 1000 THB/person plus approx. 300 THB entrance fees (based on 6 sharing)
Wednesday 12th
Choose 1 of the following transfers:
a) Quick and easy
Transfer directly to the Hyatt Hua Hin using VIP mini bus. Journey takes approx. 3.5 hours.
Estimated price is 600 THB (based on 6 sharing). For fewer than 6 people, the Hyatt shuttle can be used, but this only leaves at 2 pm, thus arrival in Hua Hin is later than ideal.
b) For first-time visitors to Thailand, who want to visit the must-see tourist sights
Transfer using VIP mini bus via the train market at Maeklong. From here, visit the floating market at Damnoen Saduak, where you cruise by long-tail boat amongst traders selling all sorts of food, textiles and mementoes.
Estimated price is 2000 THB/person (based on 6 sharing)
c) For tranquil beauty and swimming monkeys
Transfer using VIP mini bus via the train market at Maeklong. From here, visit the fishing village near Khlong Khon and take a tranquil cruise out to see the cockle fishermen. Feed the swimming monkeys and, if you wish, take a sea-food lunch in the middle of the lagoon.
